I find that it's very important to stay in touch with what goes on in your community. And more importantly, with those who go around breaking the law in the place you call your home. I stay connected by reading the Lovely County Citizen and I thank all of you overly paranoid helpful residents who send in these extremely useless in-depth observations. And also to the law enforcement agencies to which I can not stand by and poke fun of, without the help of the local paper, and a really fast getaway car.
Disturbing facts such as:
On Monday, Sept. 11
12:00 p.m. - An officer was unable to locate a small dog which may have been injured on Pivot Rock Rd.
or around
1:34 p.m. - A dog chasing vehicles on US62 was apprehended by an animal lover, who sheltered it until an officer could transfer it to "doggie jail".
and at
3:25 p.m. - "Two males driving badly" were cited on US62E.
Wedenesday, Sept.13
12:20 a.m. - An officer was unable to locate a possibly intoxicated motorist driving recklessly on S. Main St.
6:51 a.m - A man and a dog doing the wash in a darkened laundromat, received some pointers on the city's vagrancy and leash laws.
Thursday, Sept.14
10:47 a.m. - An officer saw no need to call for backup after elementary school personnel reported a second grade student caused a disturbance. The cafeteria beans were citied.
12:40 p.m. - A work trailer parked on Ravine St. was reportedly burgled during the night.
Friday, Sept. 15
1:04 p.m. - A citizen reported receiving harassing communications.
11:53 p.m. - A vehicle reportedly "cuttting up" the parking area of a US62E saloon cut out before an officer could cut in.
Saturday, Sept.16
7:11 a.m. - An officer found nothing to report about a man who roused himself from a drunken stupor at a US62W motel and reported his wallet and car missing, but later located his car. Yet.......
10:31 a.m. - A semi snarled at traffic after entering the historic loop.
And just when you thought Sundays were for resting,
12:49 a.m. - A drunk was reported roaming the halls of a US62E motel disturbing guests by knocking on doors.
3:47 a.m. - An employee of a downtown hotel complained about noisy people on Spring St.
9:51 a.m. - A motorist trying to turn around at the sewer plant needed a tow after driving into a ditch.
11:41 a.m. - A guest who refused to leave a US62E motel underwent a change of heart after an officer requested him to do so. ( I think surgery is a little extreme. )
11:45 a.m. - Unidentified utility lines which fell across Hillside Ave. were determined to be "not a traffic hazard, at this time."
12:16 p.m. - A suspicious person reportedly sleeping under an upper Spring St. building departed before an officer arrived. Leaving behind only his stench.
1:37 p.m. - A person who may have been sleeping under an upper Spring St. building was approached at a downtown hotel and informed about city ordinances regulating untethered pets and rabies vaccination certification. Along with a bar of soap.
and finally at
8:45 p.m. - A lady with a baby who sat for 2 1/2 hours in the rain in front an upper Spring St. shop told an officer she was waiting for a ride.
I bet he fell asleep again. Probably from all the untethered rabies.
